THE EFFECTS OF PAIN PART1

Do you know that the thing that kills our spirit and prevents us from living life to the full is pain? Emotional pains represent some of the most destructive forces that can completely weaken us as human beings, and prevent us from achieving our goals. Your whole life becomes confused and disorientated when pain pushes you to become antagonised. When one becomes antagonised and full of rage, one’s creative wisdom spirit becomes completely dead if he loses the fight. And if one wins the fight, one becomes a great devil.

The only positive attitude of man is to identify the wisdom spirit killers within his own environment and find a way to neutralise them. These destructive wisdom spirit killers can be your own parents, friends, business partners, the groups you associate with, your tribe, political persuasion, religious group etc. The above mentioned individuals or groups can be the source of pain, discouragement and distress. They can sometimes use hateful and abusive words against you to dampen your spirit and weaken your morale.

I am sure some of you can remember certain moments in your lives when your father, mother, friend or any other person (especially when you erred or did something wrong unintentionally) would just look at you and chose some part of your body to insult you. They would say, for example, “look at your big head, your little head, big stomach etc.” How did that make you feel? What was your emotional level at that time? I am sure you felt ashamed and humiliated. Perhaps you lost control of your mind, or maybe you became very angry. You may even have felt the urge to retaliate. In such moments, your wisdom and creative spirit that encompasses your self beingness will reduce to 0%.

But it is essential for one to pull oneself together and take control so one does not succumb to anger or feel ashamed for who you are or your beingness when others try to abuse and insult you for who you are. Let them know that you are proud for your own natural beingness, whether you have one eye, one leg, a big nose, a big head, or whatever or whoever you are. If you are able to do this, that emotional pain will be turned against them. They will feel pain when they realize that you don't feel pain. They will be humiliated and embarrassed when they realize that you are proud of who you are.

One of the most destructive wisdom spirit killers in African societies is tribalism. For instance, people from northern Ghana sometimes use contemptuous tribal words to insult each other such as Frafra, the dog eaters, Grushie, etc. When I was a child, I saw some uneducated people from my community Mamprugu who felt that when someone called you a Frafra or a Grushie (words that describe the Frafra and Grushie people of northern Ghana) it is a painful insult.

Even today in the southern part of Ghana, it is common to hear a southerner call northerners NTAFO (a name that contemptuously describes people of northern extraction). And sometimes too northerners also use various undesirable terms towards southern Ghanaians. Some people feel pain and agony when such terms are used to describe them but once you let pain overcome you, you begin to kill the spirit of your creative wisdom. Try not to carry or bear any pain and you will live a magical life. What I actually want you to understand is that the people who fill your life with pain and misery are your wisdom spirit killers. Identify them and resolve never to allow what they say or do to you cause you pain. They only succeed when you feel pain and you become full of with anger. Just ignore them and continue doing what you want to achieve in your life. In the end, they will tend to bear the pains that will kill the spirit of their own creative wisdom. Continue from part2.
